Una vez terminado el taller, proseguimos con el almacén. Fue una simple prolongación del taller. El techo siguió exactamente el contorno del talud original. En la foto se muestra la cimbra para colar el techo.

Once the toolshop was finished, we continued with the storage room. This was a simple continuation of the toolshop and followed exactly the contour of the original berm. The formwork to pour the roof is shown in the pic.

Incluso llegó una garza a curiosear. ¿o a comerse las ranas del estanque?
Even a heron arrived to look around. Or did it go after the frogs in the pond?

Con la experiencia acumulada en los demás techos,  rápidamente coloqué la película impermeabilizante en este techo.

With the cumulated experience from the other roofs, I quickly laid the waterproof film on this room.

Posteriormente lo cubrí con tierra y...

I covered it with soil and....

... con rollos de pasto. ¡¡ya tengo un techo verde!!

... and with grass rolls. I have a green roof!!!

taller / workshop

La poca área  plana del terreno no la quiero destinar al taller. Por esa razón, el taller estará metido en el terraplén.
I don´t want to use the small remaining flat area for the workshop. Therefore the workshop will be embedded in the berm.

Para ello excavamos un volumen grande en el terraplén.
We excavated a big volume out of the berm.

Las paredes están vaciadas en una cimbra de MDF y son de pura tierra reforzada con 5% de cemento

The walls are poured into a form made of MDF and are of pure soil, enrichened with 5% cement

Estamos embebiendo los anaqueles dentro del muro.
We are embedding the shelves into the wall.

El techo sí es de concreto.  ¡Aquí la cimbra está lista! ¡sigue la forma del terreno!
The roof is concrete. Here the formwork following the terrain!

Puse algunas hojas en la cimbra para que el concreto las embeba y decoren bien el techo
I laid some leaves in the formwork so that the concrecte embeds them and they decorate the ceiling.

¡A impermeabilizar el techo!
Seal the roof watertight!

Adicioné una cubierta asfáltica para una mejor impermeabilización del techo.
I added an asphaltic sheet to better seal off the roof.

A cubrir con tierra y a hacer un techo verde!!

Cocina // Kitchen

Hace tiempo que terminé la iluminación de la cocina, pero no había avanzado más.

Some time ago I finished the lighting of the kitchen, but had no further progress.

Este es el espacio destinado a los placeres del paladar...
This is the space destined to the pleasures of eating...

Primero pusimos una base para elevar los muebles sobre el piso...
We built a foundation to raise the furniture from the floor...

... tomamos medidas e hicimos plantillas...
... took measurements and cut templates...

El maestro José hizo los muebles en su taller y los instaló
Master José built the furniture in his workshop and installed them

Los muebles de la cocina siguen hermosamente el contorno del muro.
The furniture of the kitchen follows beautifully the contour of the wall

¡¡Ahora solamente falta colocar una bonita cubierta, instalar la estufa y empezar a usar el desayunador!!

Estufa tipo "cohete" 2 / Rocket mass heater 2

Para colocar la chimenea en la futura sala, ranuré la pared.

To lay the chimney in the living room, I made a groove in the wall

De esta manera la chimenea estará aislada; espero que los gases de combustión se mantengan más calientes y con ello se haga un buen tiro, Adicionalmente, se reduce el riesgo de fugas de monóxido de carbono (CO).

Thus the chimney will be isolated, I hope that the fumes are kept hotter and make a stronger draft, In addition, the risk of leaking carbon monoxide (CO) is reduced.

Tuve que picar mucha piedra y remover una buena parte de los sobrecimientos para permitir el paso del intercambiador de calor.

I had to break stone and remove a section of the overfoundation to clear the path for the heat exchanger.

Presenté la tubería necesaria para el intercambaidor de temperatura.

I laid out the piping necessary for the heat exchanger,

Esto me permitió definir el lugar exacto para la estufa "rocket", que será el corazón de todo el sistema.

This allowed me to determine the exact placement of the rocket stove, which will be the heart of the system.

¡¡¡y finalmente comencé a colocar los ladrillos refractarios con el cemento especial!!!

And finally I started laying the refractory bricks with the special mortar!!!

Este es mi primer experiencia con ladrillos refractarios. Fue un trabajo mucho más sencillo de lo que creía, ya que los ladrillos son extremadamente rectos y de dimensiones muy precisas. Solamente tenía que "enmantequillar" con una delgadísima capa de cemento y colocar el siguiente ladrillo en su posición.

This is my first experience with refractory bricks. It went much easier than expected, since the bricks are extremely straight and with exact dimensions. I only had to "butter" with very thin layer of cement and lay the next brick in its position.

Y en breve tuve lista la base de la estufa.

And shortly thereafter,  the base of the stove was ready

Estufa tipo "cohete" / Rocket Mass Heater

Inicié la construcción de una estufa calefactora tipo "cohete" para calentar la casa en el invierno. El corazón de todo el sistema lo hace la cámara de combustión y la primer chimenea.
Es un hogar altamente eficiente que provoca un tiro forzado muy intenso. La madera arde en el ducto vertical más corto y forza la entrada de aire a gran velocidad. Ello provoca que la flama transcurra horizontalmente por el conducto horizontal. Los humos y gases calientes de la combustión suben por
la chimenea a gran velocidad. Se provoca un sonido característico, de ahí su nombre de "cohete".

 Finally could I start the construction of a "rocket mass heater" (RMH) to heat the house in winter. The core of the complete system is the combustion chamber and the first chimney.
This is a highly efficient heart that causes a very intense draft. The wood burns in the shorter vertical conduct and forces the air intake at a high speed. The smoke and hot combustion gases climb through the chimney at high speed. A characteristic sound is created, hence the name "rocket".

Construí y probé un prototipo con ladrillos refractarios. Simplemente los apilé conforme al diseño.  La prueba fue un éxito total: la combustión fue muy eficiente (casi sin humo) y se formó el tiro forzado rápidamente.

I built and tested a prototype with refractory bricks. I just stacked them according to the design.
The test was a complete success: the combustion was very efficient (almost no smoke) and the strong draft build up quickly.

En paralelo, pedí la fabricación de un "sombrero de bruja" (una especie de paso de chimenea a través de un techo de madera, ofreciendo cuidado contra  exceso de calor y chispas voladoras).

In parallell, I required the manufacturing of a "witche´s hat" (a pass through for the wooden roof, offering protection against excessive heat and flying sparks).

Y lo coloqué en la abertura del techo.
And installed it in the opening of the roof.

¡¡¡Mi casa es helada en invierno!!! / My house is icy cold in winter!!!!

En mi blog anterior mencioné que interrumpí la colocación de tejas en el techo por una larga temporada. ¿la razón?  ¡¡¡Mi casa es helada en invierno!!!

In my previous blog I mentioned that I interrupted the laying of tiles in the roof for a long time.
The reason? My house is icy cold in winter!!!!

Durante el invierno pasado mi recámara rondó permanentemente los 12°C de temperatura. Permanentemente tengo puesta la  ropa de abrigo en casa. Eso sí: creo que viviré un par de años adicionales por emplear medios criogénicos para prolongar la vida ;-) 😉

The continuous temperature in my sleeping room last winter howered around 12°C (54 F). I permanently wear warm clothing at home. However: I believe I´ll live a couple of additional years by employing cryogenic techniques to prolong life ;-) 😉

Después de muchas consultas, me decidí por construir una estufa calentadora tipo cohete "RMH"("Rocket Mass Heater" por sus siglas en inglés). Este tipo de estufas quema madera en forma extremadamente eficiente y permite calentar las habitaciones directamente. Constan de un quemador de alta eficiencia y un radiador de calor embebido en una banca de mampostería.

After a thorough investigation, I decided to build a "Rocket Mass Heater" (RMH). This kind of heaters burns wood very efficiently and allows to heat persons and rooms directly. They are made of a high efficiency combustion chamber and a heat radiator embedded in a solid bench.

Comencé haciendo un agujero en el techo para pasar la chimenea. Mientras no esté puesta la chimenea, no puedo continuar con las tejas...

I started by cutting a hole in the roof for the chimney. As long as the chimney is not placed, I cannot continue with the roof tiles...

Acumulé toda la tubería necesaria para la chimenea y el intercambiador de calor.

I piled up all the piping necessary for the chimney and the heat exchanger
