Estufa tipo cohete 6 / Rocket Mass Heater 6

Construyendo la "campana": una envolvente alrededor de la chimenea de la estufa. Esta campana capturará los gases calientes que salgan de la chimenea para forzarlos a través de los ductos intercambiadores de calor.

Building the "bell": an envelope around the oven´s chimney. This bell will capture the hot gases coming out fo the chimney and will force them through the heat exchanging pipes.

La campana va tomando forma y ya se conectó el ducto de salida.

The bell is taking its form and the exit duct is already connected.

Ahora toca terminar la chimenea de la estufa.

Finishing the heat riser of the stove.

Y corro a colocar el tambo en su lugar. ¡¡Me urge comprobar que el sistema funciona!!

Con un par de veladoras cebo el sistema: todos los ductos y chimenea se llenan con aire caliente hasta que éste asciende por la chimenea de salida, iniciando el tiro en teoría).

With some candles the system is primed: all ducts and the chimney are filled with hot air until it ascends trough the exit chimney, starting the draft (in theory).

En la práctica: el humo acre se regresa en cantidades ilimitadas... el fuego rápidamente se apaga...

In practice: the stinging smoke drafts back in unthinkable quantities.. the fire quickly dies...

... y toda mi casa se ahuma...

... and all my house is now smoked...

Por uno de los registros escurre mucha agua. Cuando el humo está relativamente a baja temperatura y toca las paredes frías y largas de los ductos, el agua se condensa rápidamente. Máxime si la madera no estaba debidamente seca: la humedad contenida en la madera se evapora y se transporta junto con el humo.

A lot of water flows out from the registers. When the smoke is at a relatively low temperature and touches the cold and long ducts, the contained water condensates immediately. Even more so if the wood was not dry enough: the water contained in the wood evaporates and is transported together with the smoke.

Por hoy no seguiré probando. Necesito hacer análisis de falla, buscar la causa raíz y corregirla.

For today I will not continue testing. I need to make failure analysis, search for the root cause and correct it.

Duela en recámara / wooden floor in bedroom

La puerta curva estaba demasiado ancha y la tuve que recortar y adaptar para que fuera deslizable. ¡Quedó bastante bien!

The curved door was too wide and I had to shorten it and to adapt it to become sliding.

It turned out quit well!

Hice un nicho en la pared para la puerta.

 I made a recess in the wall for the door.

y ahora, ¡a colocar las duelas en la recámara de arriba! Primero hay que taquetear un bastidor de madera al piso. Y encima se clavan las duelas con una pistola neumática.

And now, to lay the wooden floor in the upper bedroom! The first step was to anchor a wooden frame to the floor. And the wooden strips are then nailed to the frame with a pneumatic nailer.

Varios fines de semana después, terminé de colocar el piso, también en la salita de lectura.

Several weekends later, the floor was laid, also in the reading room.

Posteriormente, a lijar toda la superficie. Adapté la aspiradora a la lijadora para disminuir la cantidad de polvo.
Thereafter, I sanded the surface. I adapted the vacuum cleaner to the sanding machine to reduce the dust generated.

¡Quedé totalmente empanizado!

¡ a entintar con un color bonito!

Apliqué tres capas de barniz. La última fue mate, para que la superficie no brillara mucho.  Me gustó como quedó.

I applied 3 hands of varnish. The last one was non shiny. I liked it!

Y de una vez. a lijar, entintar y barnizar los escalones.

And let´s continue inking and varnishing the steps.

Cocina // Kitchen

Hace tiempo que terminé la iluminación de la cocina, pero no había avanzado más.

Some time ago I finished the lighting of the kitchen, but had no further progress.

Este es el espacio destinado a los placeres del paladar...
This is the space destined to the pleasures of eating...

Primero pusimos una base para elevar los muebles sobre el piso...
We built a foundation to raise the furniture from the floor...

... tomamos medidas e hicimos plantillas...
... took measurements and cut templates...

El maestro José hizo los muebles en su taller y los instaló
Master José built the furniture in his workshop and installed them

Los muebles de la cocina siguen hermosamente el contorno del muro.
The furniture of the kitchen follows beautifully the contour of the wall

¡¡Ahora solamente falta colocar una bonita cubierta, instalar la estufa y empezar a usar el desayunador!!

Now I only need to build a nice countertop, install a stove and start using the breakfast table
