Una vez terminado el taller, proseguimos con el almacén. Fue una simple prolongación del taller. El techo siguió exactamente el contorno del talud original. En la foto se muestra la cimbra para colar el techo.

Once the toolshop was finished, we continued with the storage room. This was a simple continuation of the toolshop and followed exactly the contour of the original berm. The formwork to pour the roof is shown in the pic.

Salomón coló el techo rápidamente.
Salomón poured the roof quickly.

Incluso llegó una garza a curiosear. ¿o a comerse las ranas del estanque?
Even a heron arrived to look around. Or did it go after the frogs in the pond?

Con la experiencia acumulada en los demás techos,  rápidamente coloqué la película impermeabilizante en este techo.

With the cumulated experience from the other roofs, I quickly laid the waterproof film on this room.

Posteriormente lo cubrí con tierra y...

I covered it with soil and....

... con rollos de pasto. ¡¡ya tengo un techo verde!!

... and with grass rolls. I have a green roof!!!

taller / workshop

La poca área  plana del terreno no la quiero destinar al taller. Por esa razón, el taller estará metido en el terraplén.
I don´t want to use the small remaining flat area for the workshop. Therefore the workshop will be embedded in the berm.

Para ello excavamos un volumen grande en el terraplén.
We excavated a big volume out of the berm.

Las paredes están vaciadas en una cimbra de MDF y son de pura tierra reforzada con 5% de cemento

The walls are poured into a form made of MDF and are of pure soil, enrichened with 5% cement

Estamos embebiendo los anaqueles dentro del muro.
We are embedding the shelves into the wall.

El techo sí es de concreto.  ¡Aquí la cimbra está lista! ¡sigue la forma del terreno!
The roof is concrete. Here the formwork following the terrain!

Puse algunas hojas en la cimbra para que el concreto las embeba y decoren bien el techo
I laid some leaves in the formwork so that the concrecte embeds them and they decorate the ceiling.

¡A impermeabilizar el techo!
Seal the roof watertight!

Adicioné una cubierta asfáltica para una mejor impermeabilización del techo.
I added an asphaltic sheet to better seal off the roof.

A cubrir con tierra y a hacer un techo verde!!

Cover with earth and make a green roof!!

Ahora: el techo de abajo recibe tejas / Now, the lower roof gets tiles

Después de una larguísima pausa sin publicar, aquí una breve reseña. Compartiré el larguísimo proceso de colocar tejas en el techo inferior. El techo inferior cubre a la cocina y la sala.

After a long pause without publishing, here a small review, I´ll share the excruciatingly long process of laying tiles on the lower roof. The lower roof covers kitchen and living room.

Comencé a colocar tejas en el lado sur.

I started laying tiles on the South side:

Pronto alcancé el extremo oeste.
Soon I reached the Westernmost side,

Y de nuevo a cortar cada teja, para lograr un buen cambio de dirección,
And again, cut each tile individualy to achieve a good change of direction

¡La transición se ve bien!
The transition looks good!

Con la experiencia acumulada, ahora las hiladas me salen bastante derechas y estéticas.
With the experience gained, now the lines are quite straight and look good:

Después de muchos fines de semana, le dí la vuelta a la sección circular.
After many weekends, I turned around the round section of the roof,

¡momento para otra transición en la dirección!
Time for another transition!

Y aquí me tendré que detener. ¿la razón?  Ahora pondré una chimenea, pero esa es otra historia...
And here, I will have to stop, The reason? I will install a chimney, but that is another story,,,

La última teja, ahora sí! // The last roof tile, this time for real

 ¡¡¡Ahora vino Carmina a visitarme y a poner "LA ÚLTIMA TEJA"!!!
It was now Camina who came visit and to lay "THE LAST TILE"!!!

Esta vez sí estaba terminado el techo...

La última teja que no fue la última // the last tile which wasn´t the last

 Pues sigo avanzando! Ya empecé a cerrar y a colocar las tejas cumbreras.
Progress continues! I am closing and laying the uppermost tiles.

¡Ya falta muy poco para terminar el techo superior!
Only a little more to finalize the upper roof!

Kiks vino de vacaciones y le pedí que colocara ¡¡¡¡¡"LA ÚLTIMA TEJA"!!!!!
Kiks came on vacation and I asked her to lay "THE LAST TILE"

pero... desafortunadamente el techo aun no estaba listo...
but... unfortunately the roof wasn´t ready yet...

Así que la "última teja" no fue la última, pero pronto lo será!!
So the "last tile" wasn´t the last but soon will become last!!!

Colocando tejas #3 // Laying roof tiles #3

Al conocido artista Christo Javacheff le gusta envolver edificios en lonas. Por ejemplo el edificio del parlamento alemán (imagen tomada de internet):

The well known artist Christo Javacheff likes to wrap buildings in fabric. I.e. the building of the German Parliament (image taken from internet):

Yo por mi parte envuelvo una parte de mi construcción. ¡Aunque mi intención no es artística! Simplemente necesito evitar que las tejas absorban agua de lluvia y se hagan tan pesadas que no resista la estructura:

I in turn wrap a part of my building, but my intentions are not artistic! I just try to avoid that the tiles soak in rain water and get too heavy for the structure:

Las lluvias han sido intensas. ¡qué bonito cielo!
The downpours have been intense. What a beautiful sky!

Mientras tanto, ya completé la primer mitad del techo de arriba y ya dí la vuelta hacia el lado sur!
Meanwhile I completed the first half of the upper roof and turned around to the South side.

Esta foto es varias semanas más joven que la anterior. Se nota el avance!
This following picture is several weeks younger than the previous. The progress can be seen!

Colocando tejas #2 // Laying roof tiles #2

Terminé de colocar las tejas alrededor del tragaluz. No me gustó totalmente pero no encontré una mejor forma...

I layed the tiles around the skylight. Didn´t quite much like it but I couldn´t find a better way to do it...

Las transiciones entre planos distintos me quedaron muy chuecas. Por más que intenté enderezar las hiladas, no lo logré. Debo decir que la altura y el tener que usar arnés y cuerda de seguridad, al mismo tiempo que me resbalaba al borde del techo no me dieron la tranquilidad para hacerlo mejor.

The transitions between different planes resulted quite curvy. As much as I tried to make them straight, I couldn´t. I must say that the height, comnined with the need of a safety rope and a harness as I slipped at the verge of the roof didn´t give me serenity enough to make it better.

¿o tal vez de debió a las cervecitas que me tomé cada vez que bajaba del techo?
He estado preparando mezcla "pegateja" en cantidad suficiente para que dure menos de 90 minutos, para que no se seque. Esto quiere decir que aproximadamente cada 90 minutos debo bajar del techo a  preparar más pegateja. uso la ocasión para  tomarme cada vez una cervecita con limón. ¡¡Tal vez esta sea la verdadera razón por la cual las hiladas salen tan chuecas!!

Or may it be caused by the beer I ingested each time I descended from the roof?
 I prepare enough cement mix as to last not more than 90 minutes, else it would dry out. This means that every 90 minutes or so, I have to descend from the roof to prepare more cement. I use the opportunity to drink a beer with lime. Perhaps this is the reason why the lines are so crooked!!

Afortunadamente de lejos no se ven tanto las curvas...
Fortunatelly, the curvy lines cannot be seen from farther away...
